FIELD REPRESENTATIVE / DISTRICT SCHEDULER

Reports To: District Director & Deputy Chief of Staff / Director of Operations
About the Office
Congressman Christian Menefee represents Texas's 18th Congressional District, which includes much of North Houston and parts of Humble. We are looking for a talented, community-driven individual to help us do that work on the ground.
About This Role
This is a hybrid position: part community ambassador, part scheduling coordinator. You will be one of the faces of Congressman Menefee's office in Houston, attending events in the district and building relationships with community leaders. You will also help make sure the Congressman’s Houston schedule runs smoothly.
This role is ideal for someone who knows Houston, loves people, and is detail-oriented and able to juggle multiple responsibilities without dropping the ball.
This position is entirely based in Houston and reports jointly to the District Director & Deputy Chief of Staff and the Director of Operations in DC. You will also work closely with Congressman Menefee and the Chief of Staff.
What You Will Do
Scheduling
Manage the Congressman’s daily and long-term schedule while he is in the district
Receive, track, and respond to all incoming requests for meetings and event appearances in Houston
Coordinate logistics for official district events, including transportation and timing
Communicate schedule updates quickly and clearly to the Congressman, staff, and outside stakeholders
Work with the Washington D.C. Scheduler to make sure the district calendar lines up with the D.C. calendar
Draft event briefing memos and work with legislative and communications staff to prepare the Congressman before every meeting or appearance
Keep accurate records of all scheduling activity
Community Outreach and Field Work
Represent the Congressman at community events, meetings, and public forums across the district
Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, faith organizations, neighborhood groups, nonprofits, and local officials
Stay plugged into what is happening in TX-18: attend local meetings, track local issues, and report back to the District Director
Help make sure the office’s outreach efforts reflect the Congressman’s priorities and serve the people of the district
Support the planning and execution of community events hosted or co-sponsored by the office
Identify opportunities for the Congressman to engage with underserved communities and organizations doing important work in the district
What We Are Looking For
Required
Strong written and verbal communication skills: you can write a clear email and give a confident speech
Ability to manage a busy calendar and handle last-minute changes without losing your cool
Sound judgment: you know how to handle sensitive information and complicated situations with discretion
- People skills and the ability to effectively communicate to a wide range of audiences
Familiarity with Houston and deep knowledge of the communities that make up the 18th Congressional District
Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends for community events
Preferred
- Experience in scheduling, for a campaign, elected official, nonprofit, or business
- Prior experience working for an elected official, government agency, or advocacy organization
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Relationships with community leaders, civic organizations, or advocacy groups in Houston
- Bilingual skills are a plus

Compensation
Salary is commensurate with experience and consistent with House of Representatives compensation guidelines. The targeted salary range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 annually. This position includes federal government benefits.
