Field Representative / District Digital Associate

Field Representative / District Digital Associate

Location: Houston, Texas

Reports To: District Director & Deputy Chief of Staff / Communications Director

About the Office

Congressman Christian Menefee represents Texas's 18th Congressional District, which includes much of North Houston and parts of Humble. We are looking for a talented, community-driven individual to help us do that work on the ground.

About This Role

The Office of Congressman Christian Menefee is looking for a creative, community-rooted team member who can do two things well: show up in the district and tell our story online. This is not a traditional field role or a traditional digital role either. It is both.

As a Field Representative and District Digital Associate, you will be on the ground in Houston, building relationships and representing the Congressman at community events. You will also be behind the camera and behind the keyboard, capturing that work and turning it into compelling content that reaches residents across TX-18 as part of the communications team.

This position is entirely based in Houston and reports jointly to the District Director & Deputy Chief of Staff and the Communications Director in DC. You will work also closely with Congressman Menefee and the Chief of Staff.

What You Will Do

Field and Community Outreach

  • Represent the Congressman at community events, meetings, and public forums across the district

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, faith organizations, neighborhood groups, nonprofits, and local officials

  • Stay plugged into what is happening in TX-18: attend local meetings, track local issues, and report back to the District Director

  • Help make sure the office’s outreach efforts reflect the Congressman’s priorities and serve the people of the district

  • Support the planning and execution of community events hosted or co-sponsored by the office

  • Identify opportunities for the Congressman to engage with underserved communities and organizations doing important work in the district

Digital Communications and Content Creation

  • Capture high-quality photos and video of the Congressman at events, meetings, and in the community

  • Create videos, graphics, and other digital content that is compelling, on-brand, and error-free

  • Draft daily social media content in the voice of the Congressman and respond quickly to breaking news online

  • Manage a strategic content calendar in coordination with the Communications Director

  • Assist with drafting and distributing the Congressman’s district newsletter and digital updates

  • Compile and distribute daily news clips relevant to TX-18 and the Congressman’s priorities

  • Help develop rapid response messaging for local and national issues as they arise

What We Are Looking For

Required

  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to write in someone else’s voice
  • Intermediate skills in graphic design and video editing: you have done this before and have work to show for it
  • Comfort operating a camera and capturing quality content in fast-paced, real-world settings
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and how to build an audience on each one
  • Strong attention to detail: typos and off-brand content are not acceptable
  • People skills and the ability to effectively communicate to a wide range of audiences
  • Familiarity with Houston and deep knowledge of the communities that make up the 18th Congressional District

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

Preferred

  • Experience in digital communications, content creation, or social media management for a campaign, elected official, nonprofit, or brand

  • Experience in community organizing, field work, or constituent services

  • Proficiency in tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar platforms

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communications, political science, journalism, or a related field

  • Relationships with community leaders, civic organizations, or advocacy groups in Houston
  • Bilingual skills are a plus
