Rep. Menefee Marks Memorial Day, Honors Fallen Servicemembers and Reaffirms Commitment to Veterans
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Christian D. Menefee (TX-18) issued the following statement recognizing Memorial Day and honoring the servicemembers who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the nation.
As the son of two Coast Guard Veterans, Congressman Menefee reflected on the values of sacrifice, duty, and service that has shaped his upbringing.
“Memorial Day is a time to honor the brave servicemembers who gave everything for this nation and to remember the immense sacrifices made by military families across generations,” said Congressman Menefee.
Congressman Menefee also noted that honoring the fallen carries an ongoing responsibility to support Veterans and military families long after their service ends. He raised concerns about challenges Veterans continue to face, including access to healthcare, housing stability, and timely delivery of benefits and services.
Over the past year, staffing reductions and workforce challenges across the Department of Veterans Affairs have raised concerns about the long-term ability to deliver the level of care and support veterans deserve. Congressman Menefee stressed that Veterans and their families should not face additional barriers to accessing critical services and assistance.
“Our servicemembers kept their promise to America. We must continue keeping our promise to them,” said Congressman Menefee.
