Rep. Menefee Joins Congressional Equality Caucus Amid Continued Republican Attacks on LGBTQIA+ Americans

House Republicans advance another anti-LGBTQIA+ bill, Menefee vows to fight back against attacks on equality and basic freedoms

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Christian D. Menefee (TX-18) announced he has joined the Congressional Equality Caucus as House Republicans once again bring anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation to the House floor instead of addressing the rising cost of living facing working families.

The Republican legislation, titled the “Stopping Indoctrination and Protecting Kids Act,” targets LGBTQIA+ Americans and endangers transgender students by forcing schools to out them to their families and banning inclusive curriculum, making classrooms less safe and less welcoming for young people. As these attacks reach the House floor, Rep. Menefee is fighting back.

“I'm honored to join the Congressional Equality Caucus and stand alongside those fighting for the dignity, freedom, and equality of every American,” said Congressman Menefee. “At a time when Republicans are obsessed with attacking LGBTQIA+ communities, they continue to ignore the affordability crisis hurting working families and instead use culture wars as a political distraction. We must continue pushing back against hate and discrimination. Everyone deserves the freedom to love who they love and live their authentic self.

The Congressional Equality Caucus is the largest caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives and works to advance equality and protections for LGBTQIA+ Americans in Congress and across the country.
